This experiment establishes no such thing. The monkey on the right is not complaining. What it does establish is that monkeys, like humans are happy to get more than an equal share but not less. This experient actually shows capuchins tolerate inequality. Monkeys are actually intensely competitive. It takes quite a special suite of characteristics and group dynamics to produce sharing behaviour. Group characteristics like cooperation require external threats and challenges. Sharing has to be rewarded to flourish.

In this small Clip ues, it lokks like they are quite happy as long as they get the greatest share, but in later Experiments the monkey With the highest payoff would actually in some cases refuse to take the grape untill his kin had also been paid in grapes. Theese animals might in that manner have an even greater sense of equality than most People.

Anja, could you point to a clip showing that behavior or give more info? My reading of these experiments is pretty similar to Stuart's
