Said the right things, and sounded sincere. Would he succeed? Hope we get a chance to see whether he does.

A narcissitic, Anglophile wanna be pathan (he is not, he is from Mianwali), naive, hypocritical, spolit boy and dangerous fool. And dumb. This interview shows that clearly.

Generally I agree with the points Imran Khan made. The root of much of what ails Pakistan is corruption and dishonesty. Second that to win the war on terror we have to change the lives of the people in the tribal areas where they have so little to lose that they give their lives up easily. Third that the American actions are only alienating the people who have always admired America since Pakistan became independent.
My only concern is that to gain power and to maintain it in Pakistan requires one to be corrupt or at least get the support of all the corrupt politicians. One person alone can never govern, and the price for getting the support of every one in Pakistan is the same... freedom to accumulate wealth while in power at any level, from the police constable to the cabinet minister.
But against all realistic expectations I wish him well and perhaps he can start the change, even if it takes a 100 years to transform the society.
"I couldn't tear myself
away from 3 Quarks Daily, to the point of neglecting my work. Congratulations on
this superb site."—Steven
Pinker, Johnstone Professor of Psychology, Harvard University.
"I have placed 3 Quarks Daily at the head of my list of web bookmarks."—Richard
Dawkins, Charles Simonyi Professor of the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University.
"Just wanted you to know I’m one of many who reads and enjoys 3 Quarks....almost daily."—David Byrne, musician, former lead-singer of the Talking Heads, artist, intellectual.
