Should we let them all take their toll to prevent the world population from growing "too big"?
By no means. Let's continue to fight the things that cause unwanted death. I normally like what Richard says, but the only arrogance I see here is a healthy person labeling people who don't want to die as "selfish".

Actually, they are, dramatically in some cases, in just about all countries except those in sub-Saharan Africa.
The other thing is that I think gerontologists will be the first people to tell you that their scientific word needs to be accompanied by a shift in cultural attitudes towards reproduction.
