Sunday Poem

“The outsider is the safest and handiest repository for the hate one feels
toward God when one’s life go south."
--A.R. Spokewell, Hard Times in Paradise: the Immigrant Ruse

Nazis

Thank God they’re all gone
except for one or two in Clinton Maine
who come home from work
at Scott Paper or Diamond Match
to make a few crank calls
to the only Jew in New England
they can find

These make-shift students of history
whose catalogue of facts include
every Jew who gave a dollar
to elect the current governor
every Jew who’d sell this country out
to the insatiable Israeli state

I know exactly how they feel
when they say they want to smash my face

Someone cheated them
they want to know who it is
they want to know who makes them beg

It’s true Let’s Be Fair
it’s tough for almost everyone
to exaggerate the facts
to make a point

Just when I thought I could walk to the market
just when Jean the check-out girl
asks me how many cords of wood I chopped
and wishes me happy Easter
as if I’ve lived here all my life

Just when I can walk into the bank
and nod to the tellers who know my name
where I work who lived in my house in 1832
who know to a penny the amount
of my tiny Jewish bank account

Just when I’m sure we can all live together
and I can dine in their saltbox dining rooms
with the melancholy picture of Christ
on the wall their only consolation
just when I can borrow my neighbor’s ladder
to repair one of the holes in my roof

I pick up the phone
and listen to my instructions

I see the town now from the right perspective
the gunner in the glass bubble
of his fighter plane shadowing the tiny man
with the shopping bag and pointy nose
his overcoat two sizes too large for him
skulking from one doorway to the next
trying to make his own way home

I can see he’s not one of us

The Nazi's were not just guilty of religious terror as this piece implies. They were also advocates of abuses of power against anyone opposing their agenda and masters at propaganda and the art of fooling people. They encouraged government secrecy. They encouraged neighbor to tell on neighbor or family member to call the Gestapo on another family member, who might later be found dead. They encouraged the big lie. They acted like a Mafia. Remember the saying of the Mafia: "You might as well cooperate in your death since we are going to kill you anyway."
Funny, isn't it how so many of our lawmakers seek to emulate Nazi, Germany, and the former Soviet Union too, in writing our laws? Our police departments operate in virtual police state secrecy so duped taxpayers cannot know or prove the corruption that goes on behind closed doors. Military force and power of government is used today in the United States to force citizens to perform acts demanded by government, like the payment of taxes to pay the corrupt costs of government which mostly consist of paying the costs of others in true Robin Hood fashion. Most local governments violate the U.S. Constitution with impunity and use a form of legal tyranny to force or embarrass citizens into compliance with their often illegal edicts which are usually too expensive to challenge if one could even find a lawyer competent to do so. If anyone refuses to pay their property tax, their property is simply confiscated from them in true Nazi style.
Some cities even have laws against the number of unrelated people living in a private home and encourage neighbor to spy on neighbor to enforce such illegal and unfair and unconstitutional laws.
If all else fails, the government trumps out its income tax law to get anyone they seek to harass.
Why we still do not even know the truth about the 9/11 disaster or the earlier Kennedy Assassination, let alone the true reasons for the failed and meaningless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan which are costing over a billion dollars a day and bankrupting a nation already bankrupted; the national debt was just raised the other day to $ 12.4 trillion (through next February, 2010) and rising.
Adolph Hitler is often quoted with this statement: "The People will more readily believe the big lie than the small lie".
Americans are the biggest fools in the world despite all their "higher" education. Despite all the evidence and facts to the contrary, they believe the government lies about the failed war on cancer, the failed war on drugs, the failed war in Iraq, the failed war in Afghanistan, the massive theft from the senior citizens from artificially low interest rates to finance the corrupt bank failures, the corrupt and secret law enforcement and "justice" systems documented in the book "IBM and the Corruption of Justice in America" by Earl Carey, etc., etc., etc. Why every time a citizen seeks to enter a courthouse they are treated like a criminal and searched with no probable cause in patent violation of the U.S. Constitution. Don't give us this nonsense that the Gestapo methods of Nazi, Germany and the propaganda methods of Joseph Goebbels are gone, when they are emulated and followed by our college graduates every day of the year right here in Amerika.
It is a total myth that only those of the Jewish faith bore the brunt of the Nazi's. Today most of our lawmakers, who learned nothing from history in their "higher" education, religiously follow the principles of Nazi, Germany and the former Soviet Union so many of our brave ancestors fought so hard to rid the world of and tyrannize all of us every day 24/7 whatever your religious faith.
Who was Robin Hood? He was the mythical outlaw in Sherwood Forest who stole from the rich and gave to the poor.
This is exactly what virtually all of our tax laws do today at every government level; steal from the haves to pay the costs of the have nots who often pay nothing at all for everything from education of the children they fostered to the jails they occupy to the public hospitals they abuse and fail to pay the bills.
Remember this quotation: "From each according to his abililty, to each according to his needs". Karl Marx, the "Father" of Communism, is attributed with this statement, which is the foundation of most of the Socialism and Communism in America today, which is basically the same Robin Hood philosophy enforced by the principles taught to our lawmakers by their teachers, Adolph Hitler and Joseph Paul Goebbels in former Nazi, Germany which is alive and well in Amerika 2009.
Secrecy was the foundation of the Nazi’s. Secrecy is the foundation of America. Secrecy is how you fool people. Secrecy is the enemy of the truth and the enemy of America and the essential reason for its current downfall.

I think it would make your commentary more readable if you double spaced between paragraphs.

I think you've got the Robin Hood analogy a little mixed up. Robin Hood stole from the rich and actually gave to the poor. Modern corporate and corporate-driven legislator pseudo-Robin Hoods take and and keep control of their take first, while distributing crumbs from the table through the education, prisons and hospitals you accuse the have nots of abusing.

Have-notism is built into the corporate system as it stands. I think your resentment of have nots is misplaced. I'd recommend reading David Korten, unless you think he's a communist.

As today's poetry post begins:

Jim,

And without that hate, how would Pat Buchanan sell books?

But I think Winfield is right about secrecy and subversion of the Constitution and erosion of the Bill of Rights. Ralph Nader once said something to the effect of government of Exxon, for Mobil and by DuPont. The taxified middle class seems happy enough till that gravy train goes south.

Winfield J. Abbe has it wrong. The role of the U.S. government is to steal from the poor and give to the rich. How can "welfare queens" collecting food stamps worth a few hundered dollars a month be compared to Wall street bankers collecting multi-million dollar bonuses from taxpayers for ruining the economy?
