Iran's national poet speaks out
Via Nico Pitney at the Huffington Post:
"NPR's Davar Ardalan interviewed Simin Behbahani, Iran's national poet, today from Tehran. She's 82 years-old and one of the most respected figures in modern Iran. She recites two poems inspired by recent events -- one dedicated to the people of Iran and another to Neda, the woman whose death during the protests was viewed by millions on the web and on TV."

It is moving to see this poem by Simin Behbahani. Your readers might want also to read this, "Banu, Our Lady," published ten years ago in Archipelago, in Persian and English: http://www.archipelago.org/vol4-3/behbahani.htm. It is "an expression of outrage by Simin Behbahani, author of over a dozen books of poetry in Persian and recipient of the Human Rights Watch/Hellman-Hammet grant, for her struggle for freedom of expression in Iran."
She is a great poet. We were honored to publish her.
