This proves nothing except Mr. Abbas' obsession with exonerating Hamas and putting all the blame on Israel.
The CNN correspondent refers to an incident in November.
Israel had a specific target and a completely legitimate right to kill the militants referred to.
Does Mr. Abbas really believe that Hamas militants just sit at home, knit pink peace doves on little pink sweaters while singing "We shall overcome" and then, suddenly, the big bad Israelis come and bomb the crap out of them?
Mr. Abbas, stick to picking flowers in the Alps.

Here's an idea: pump the tunnel full of concrete. Problem solved with no border crossing, nobody dead. No excuses for either side. If the tunnel wasn't close enough yet, wait.
I'm tired of hearing that every violent action is excusable just because someone else might do something violent in the future. Fine, but what about trying to stop them without the use of violence first? No doubt, Hamas fails just as often, if not more, at this goal, but I fail to see why that gives Israel a free pass, particularly since they make a much bigger deal about caring about civilians.
Dear J.D. Foley: I have nothing to more say, except watch this video and put an end to endless questioning of 3QD’s intentions/scope to Israel-Palestine. Really, do you think that it is a huge issue that 3QD editors are challenging their own credibility or do you think it is more important to have a ‘cease-fire’ and save innocent lives?
See this video and perhaps find a dialogue to promote peace within our own communities, like 3QD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fgeqrs5ePLU&feature=related

J.D. Foley - so Israel was in a truce with a party (whatever you may think of them) but had a "legitimate" right to break it? That makes no sense. Maybe you can join Abbas on the Alps.

The video is interesting and starts off strong, though the lengths a CNN anchor feels he has to go to in order to report a fact that runs counter to the standard received wisdom are ridiculous. Once the facts have been presented, however, the co-anchor (you'll forgive me for not having noted the names of what looked like two guys transported from Monday Night Football to the news desk) ignores them and plows forward with more-or-less the standard line. After one more attempt to get an acknowledgment of the new information, the initial reporter is forced to agree that things are pretty "murky" in the Middle East. Indeed.
Just because Israel had a cease-fire with Hamas, does not mean that it would be breaking any cease-fire if it went and killed some Palestinians.
We all now that any cease-fire only means that no one gets to shoot at Israel, while Israel gets to murder whatever the hell it wants with or without any reasons.
You may want to stop for a second and try to analyze how much racism, cognitive dissonance and downright insanity it takes to get an adult to have no shame in saying such pure and utter crap. Seriously. Think of it.

Techniqually, the tunnel itself was a breaking of the truce. It wasn't supposed to be there. Removing it when no one else would is kind of understandable. The Israeli's didn't want the truce to just be a time where Hamas restocked its rocket supply.

Indeed, J.D. Foley,
What a brilliant observation.
Just because Israel had a cease-fire with Hamas, does not mean that it would be breaking any cease-fire if it went and killed some Palestinians.
