Backyard Haiku
Jim Culleny

Damn!
under a flat rock
the chipmunk, scooting, is gone
the cat’s tail twitches.

Politics
before time runs out
it’s important to breathe free
at least once, no less.

Suddeness
A cat waits under
the wisteria, so cool.
A bird flies too low.

Chiminea
here’s the fire, red in
the chiminea, flaming
in fall before snow.

Emissions
it’s snowblower time
yellow overalls appear
exhaust and white plumes

Sleepwalking
Sleep is hard to find
when, looking back, you see you’ve
never been awake.
