Absolutely fascinating, Abbas. Harvey and I had an ongoing discussion for years about whether "inherent or endogenous" human intelligence has increased with time (he said no, I said yes). One reason he gave was the Pyramids (or Stonehenge). If humans could figure out how to build the Pyramids without the help of calculus, then they were as smart as humans today. Your post brought back many memories of such conversations and once again, makes me salute the ingenuity of the human mind. What a guy this Wally Wallington is! Thanks, I enjoyed the video very much. If only I can figure out a simple explanation for the cancer cell!
Love, Aps.
"I couldn't tear myself
away from 3 Quarks Daily, to the point of neglecting my work. Congratulations on
this superb site."—Steven
Pinker, Johnstone Professor of Psychology, Harvard University.
"I have placed 3 Quarks Daily at the head of my list of web bookmarks."—Richard
Dawkins, Charles Simonyi Professor of the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University.
"Just wanted you to know I’m one of many who reads and enjoys 3 Quarks....almost daily."—David Byrne, musician, former lead-singer of the Talking Heads, artist, intellectual.
