It's a lovely work, but it reminds me of traditional Australian aboriginal 'perceptions of landscape', although I see no verbal reference to that here. I worry that if this troubles me, it will probably trouble others familiar with this genre.

Dot painting is the classic way the Australian aboriginal painters approach landscape: the land usually appears as if it is viewed from way above, the way one might see it from an aircraft, with rivers intersecting as lines, and water holes as rounder patterns. It is probably the most distinctive characteristic of the work, although the dots are usually very much smaller than yours.

Anyhow, I love 3qd and the work of all of you, and very much appreciate the time, thought, and energy you put into it. I have voted for your in all the polls, and hope you will live long and prosper! I just wanted to mention this so that you might be able to pre-empt anyone else who notices it and tries to use it as a criticism, since people adopting the MO have come in for fairly rabid claims of cultural piracy in the past.

best, olivia.

And I thought it is the exit and entrance ramps on Interstate 77 just around where I live with farms around it, as seen from the air while coming down to land at the regional airport. Whatever it is in our imaginations, it is a very pleasing piece. Thanks for posting it.

It made me think of a heart and the major blood vessels -- the gold overlay might be other blood vessels, or lymphatics. The dots might be the cells of the body, laid out in a landscape rather than collected into their usual shape. The title gave me, I thought, further licence to see the painting this way.

As long as we're all saying what we think this painting looks like, and because I seem to be able to think of nothing else today, if you tilt your head to the right and look at the painting, it is possible to discern a cat's face!

Good work!

When I first saw it, I got the feeling I was looking at a gift from a girl to a boy.

Abbas, when I did that, I found a honey bee staring at me!!

But Ga, the fact that this painting has fired such diverse imagination speaks of the quality. Just like a good couplet has different meaning for different people or for same people in different moods.

Hope to see some more of your work on 3qd....

I like the colors. Pink is my favorite.
