From Lens Culture:
When I was a child I occasionally found mermaid’s purses - egg cases for sharks and skates which had washed up on the beach. I wanted to open the purses, to find out if the leathery sacks actually contained a baby shark or not, but spent long minutes filled with anxiety about what I would see if I did. Would the fish still be alive? Would it squirm or move? Having destroyed its haven, could I really just stand there and watch the fetus die? Eventually such thoughts eclipsed all curiosity, and so I always put the purse back down on the sand and left it undisturbed.
In the past my work has held its secrets close, literally enclosed in the sculptural spaces created by curled fingers and closing hands... But now the hands are beginning to open, long sequestered thoughts and feelings finally examined and revealed.

dont you feel bad about killing all these baby things just to get a picture of it i mean thats merder.does no gilt cross your mind as you slice open the egg of an inocent bird that has had no chance to live, or when you place those puppie fetises in your palm do you help to not feel soly responsible for the death of such an inosent thing that did no wrong?or did they die naterily ,i think not pleas tell me because as beautiful as your work is ,it pains me to look at such gentle hands holding something that could have become beautiful.is it realy worth it?

Amazing photos. Beautiful. I commend you for bringing to our eyes that which we refuse to see. For me, the photo of the fetus in the man's hands holds deep meaning for me. I lost a son to miscarriage. I never got to hold him. I treasure this photo because it represents what I lost. It gives me comfort, and I found this photo quite by accident today. Thank you for your contribution. You have vision.

Is that a real baby? If so, how long did it reach in the womb?

This picture is absolutely beautiful. I came across it by accident, and stared at it for about 5 minutes. I find it to be very..quiet, tho extremely powerful. When yo see it, you see and think of nothing but what it means. Which is what great art is supposed to be.
